String them along for a while and asked eventually for him to give me my BT account number to prove he was from BT. Just talked me down saying it was my choice to believe him or not and eventually he hung up.

I am waiting for an appointment to go for radiotherapy in Bristol so I was keen to answer the phone, but it went dead as I answered I then tried redial using 1471 option 3, as I was anxious but the number came up as I’ll obtainable so its obviously a spam call which was very annoying

This number and other numbers ending in 007 have been ringing me very regularly for the last couple of weeks. Suspect it is the usual PPI claim garbage.
From the background noise, some sort of a call centre. I couldn't understand the guy so I asked him to repeat what he said, and he instantly hung up. When I tried to call back to see who it was, BT said "the number has not been recognised". Obviously yet another scam.

They were not very helpful or interested, did say when they last called me, which didn't match these calls, so I said will they investigate this number and the reply was, Oh there are a lot of calls made making out they are from the Halifax, just use number on the back of your card.
