Potential scam, American-sounding woman claimed to be from “something or other” from Amazon. I couldn’t make out what it was she said as the line kept crackling, sounded like Ice something but it didn’t make sense so I told her I’d never heard of it and ended the call.

The point of the scam is to find gullible people who will believe what they say. They are crooks who once they find a victim will ask them for personal details and /or credit card/bank details "So we can proceed with our refund to you" They then commit identity fraud or empty your bank account. Obviously you were the ones they were looking for for them to steal your hard earned money from. Don't phone this number back. This is complete rubbish. If there was a genuine case against you in terms of any owed tax, HMRC would not get a computer generated voice to leave a threatening message.

Ambulance Chasers! Phoning about "accident in last 2.5 years". A Glasgow number though not necessarily based there, using 0141 to increase chance of people in surrounding area answering call (as I did). Caller was polite enough and accepted my lack of interest without question.
