Received call from busy overseas call centre claiming to be BT. When I pointed out that yesterdays call was reported as a fraud to the police she hung up. Yesterdays call exactly same script but from 01724956685 they are hacking into or falsely generating a UK number. It is the role of BT to put a stop to this nonsense?

automated call, apparently HMRC. number didn't match HMRC website, clearly a scam.
SCAM. Claimed to be BT Openreach regarding my apparently "hacked" internet (I don't have any internet in my name not am I a BT customer). Same script and same voice used as previous attempt from a different number. Do not give her any personal info. I wasted her time for a while then she got frustrated and hung up.
Has called twice in a few days. Hangs up when answered before I can respond. Suspicious and annoying. Seems like spam or phishing style of call. BLOCKED it.

The exact number was 01340 831714. After searching it here, I called the number back. It has a BT call screener on it. A Scottish sounding older lady picked up the phone. I told her my name and said I'd had a missed call from her number at 7:47am this morning (3-3-23). Her reply? "No, not me, no you haven't" and then she put the phone down. Oriental sounding woman called who had my full name, telling me that the UK pension rules had changed and that the call was from the Government to advise me on those changes. Asked about what kind of pensions I had. At that point I politely ended the call. seemed to be a fact finding call about me for nefarious reasons. If I want pension advice I can speak to a qualified advisor or look at a website. Sounded as if the call was scripted as she couldn t / wouldn t answer my questions.
