Just got a very strange call from this number saying it was hmrc and that I had been fraudulent ... and I needed to pay ... first they said £1900 then £1800 then £1700. They said if I didnt they would send the police to get me arrested ... he wouldnt give me any details of how they knew who I was and was quite bullying ... my hands are left shaking and then he put down the phone
Called saying that there were payments going out of a visa account, stating odd figures and required interaction from me to stop payments. I hung up.

I was called by someone calling himself "Yogi" allegedly from Carphone Warehouse and I renewed my contract through him with Vodafone. The incentive being a substantial cash back deal. The cheques never appeared and Vodafone do not know anything about the deal (so they say). Vodafone are refusing to honour the deal and I have reported them to trading standards and the communications commission as they are saying they cannot see on their system who renewed the contract. SCAM - I think this company (if it still exists as I am in London) is a victim of telephone cloning. I had a man call definitely not from a dry cleaners trying to convince me to accept a free iPhone 12 on the condition of... I hung up before he got a chance to continue.

After being scammed before are very wary of cold calls and scams. However, this one was picked up without really looking or thinking but I must say this seems a dangerous one because this did sound almost genuine with (as above, claiming to be HMRC). In our case, the line just went dead after it told us to press one to speak to an officer. This is one that could catch unexpecting people out so be careful! We keep it as rule that if in any doubt, ONLY answer numbers that are 0800 or gov numbers (030) unless

Just had phone call from someone with poor English again, who when I said we weren't interested in switching phone deals, he put the phone down! Charming.
