They want you to download a program so they can take over yours computer, by luring with you earned a lot of money so they "just" verify you, you are, and it can absolutely not be done in other ways, such as driver's license or passports, even though the company they say they call from, and writes on their website that, THEY WILL NEVER CALL AND VERIFY PEOPLE

LAdy pretending to be from telephone preference service, gives you your name, address and postcode. Then says preference service rewuires you to renew your membership giving the existing Debit card details. Then asks for the details - I refused. At this point line went dead.

Attempted “Amazon Account” fraud. Called saying a problem with my Amazon account and need bank details to keep the account active.
A recorded message saying "This is a redirected message from British Telecom - your Internet connection will terminate in approximately 30 minutes - press one to be reconnected. I immediately put down the phone as I have had this call already four times this week all different numbers which have been blocked. Discover Broadband called me on 07/08/2018 on 0161 768 5650 trying to get me to change from BT; When I asked where they got my name and number, she gave me some reply that as we are with BT they do a survey as a customer with our details; but didn t actually say where she got my details from. I would not give her my postcode or 1st line of address; I thought if she had name and number she could get that. She talked non-stop for 20 mins when I suggested for both our sake, she cut the call and ring me back

We got a call from this number at 2.20am which woke us up with a fright. Recorded message saying ‘Can you hear me?’ And no response when sleepily replied. Really annoying - couldn’t get back to sleep afterwards for hours. No idea what the purpose of it was.
A call stating they were from the Citizens Advice regarding debts and then thankfully call got cut off as I kept asking why they were calling!!!
