Caller ID identified the call was from Bishops Stortford. The caller said he was from O2 offering a 30% discount on my tariff. I told him I was suspicious of this call, he diverted me to another person who repeated the discount spiel. Asked why I'd be getting a discount, he said many complaints to O2 has led them to offer 'selected customers' a discount; I wouldn't have to give him any personal details, he would send me 2 texts. so I told him to sod off and disconnected the call. The number was in an email which said it was from a friend (who I've not been in contact with for years) , asking for "help", but it was very much like another email I had just received from someone else saying he was a friend but that was spam. The number above was not one I recognised and when called simply asked callers to leave a message.

FRAUD SCAM!! This was an automated message initially asking if I'd authorised a payment for £600 to overseas. Transferred to a human who said the payment on your visa debit card, I asked which card, she replied your visa debit. I asked again which card, was told from your bank. Which bank? The bank you authorised the payment from. I said I have several banks so which one. She replied Halifax bank, when I said I don't bank with Halifax she hung up on me. Be careful folks!

Spam. Left a voicemail with long pause, then a robotic voice and what sounded to be Korean or Chinese.
SPAM After phoning me several times a day, every single day for a week, I finally picked up. Nobody spoke after I said "Hello" several times. I could hear background noise, and foreign language speakers chatting in the background. Highly likely a scam, just auto dialling a list of numbers in their database.
