At 8.20am I answered my land line thinking it must be important and was a local number. It was a automated message saying ‘thank you for your payment of £299 for anti virus, if any problems please call our free phone number’ The number I’m afraid I didn’t get and it didn’t say any company either. I’m sure this is a scam of some sort that they catch you when you call to complain so very much aimed at the trusting, naive or elderly.

Tried to tell me that I need to get a new mortgage right now or I would end up in ?10,000+ worth of debt due to my current mortgage. Got a call proclaiming to be O2 offering 30% discount on phone bill free of charge for loyalty. The contract mentioned is 2 weeks old and I haven't paid a bill yet! I ended the call as soon as I could, if it's genuine I would have expected a text from O2 or an email.

Fraud Received a message from this number stating it’s from Vodaphone and that ‘we are unable to process your latest payment. In order to avoid fees please update your information via...’ then it gave a link to an https address (looked like Vodaphone but too much else to be valid, I think). I haven’t progressed this, I don’t have anything outstanding with Vodaphone, but just be aware. I will be forwarding this to Vodaphone’s phishing area.

This number texted me with a PHONE NUMBER clearly saying it’s from loyds and my card has been added into a new device. I DO NOT HAVE LOYDS! And it had a link that said, if that person isn’t you, visit our secure link.
Called both my landline and my mobile on a Sunday evening. Clearly a Birmingham number. I know the university does fundraising drives amongst alumni but these calls stress not just a nuisance but very intrusive. I understand the Uni says it wants to improve the lot of students but given the vast fees students have to pay that really do not equate to what they are provided with, I think it's a joke, not to say insulting, chasing alumni for money in this devious manner.
