An automated message comes up saying the call is from HM Revenue & Customs, gives you a case file number, and says if you ignore the call, you will face legal applications. Then asks you to press 1 to speak to an adviser. The advisor distantly says she is calling from the HMRC and asks for your name. When I asked her where are you calling from again, she hung up.
Automated call received this afternoon I remained quiet for a few seconds to hear the words GOODBYE! I dialed the number back *with the 141 prefix The number was not recognised Make what you will by this encounter I certainly do not trust whoever was behind this 'call'
I no it's an Halifax number. They have rung me a few times. Has I don't recognise the number I have not answered it.

Had a liverpudlian girl called Lucy call me just from 01704222222, said she was calling from Alderley Assist, got the usual call centre spiel, had my name on file which I confirmed. I asked her what I could do for her and to cut to the chase as I was busy and got a mouthful of abuse being called and ugly [email protected] and other nice names. Older person came out of hospital today to find call from this number purporting to be from "Lisa at HMRC" and saying that there is a serious lawsuit against the person and he must ring the number :( :( Person is registered with TPS.

Appears to be an American number. No idea who it is. Checked with family in USA and not known to them either
Company wanting to renew the call blocking services you never knew you had (and, of course, confirm your bank details).
