I ve received a call on my mobile phone today from 0161 939 0236 telling me that I ve had a loan and I m entitled to a refund plus interest because I was mis sold the loan. In the first place neither my husband or myself have had a loan from our bank or on any credit card. We got a call from this number at 2.20am which woke us up with a fright. Recorded message saying ‘Can you hear me?’ And no response when sleepily replied. Really annoying - couldn’t get back to sleep afterwards for hours. No idea what the purpose of it was.

Called the number back, seems to be a cold call centre related to "bank compensation claims" advised my number is unlisted and requested to be removed from their list
This is probably a cloned number claiming to be British Gas. Almost certainly a scam. If you ring it, the menu does not give an option to speak to an advisor. Tell them in your best Anglo-Saxon to go forth and multiply. If the calls persist then call Action Fraud.
