SCAM / SPAM Recorded message claiming to be from HM Customs, told me a tax fraud case has been opened against me, to press 1 immediately to be connected to an "officer", and that if I do not press 1 immediately the arrest warrant would be issued and I would be arrested shortly. Very threatening.
Sounded vaguely feasible until I 1471 d the number and got this one-was expecting a local number as she said (and was perfectly polite, no aggression at all) she was calling direct from my local Tesco Express. HMRC Tax Scam. I had time to spare so led them a merry dance. They claim to be HMRC and that there's historical errors in your income tax, and that HMRC have had an arrest warrant issued! I acted innocent, and after wasting about 30 mins of their time, it eventually got around to asking me to buy Google Play cards to the value of the amount supposedly owed. At that point (having given them false personal info), I finally said I wasn't fooled and they hung up. At least I wasted their time!

Fraud SCAM Cold call. Indian voice asks you to give long card number as some payment at some time "did not go through". I remember no such occasion with an Indian agent, and if this does happen with any other, they immediately check and enter the card number again and it does go through. I said I can't just give my card number to an unknown caller for an unknown transaction, and the agent said he would get their lawyers to deal with me. I have blocked the number.
