Called this morning definite scam, asked them to hang on while I switched my computer on, checked the number on hereafter mins of hanging on they got fed up and hung up (very impolite)!
I was hard at work concentrating on what I was doing when interrupted by this number calling me. I did not answer. When I investigated later Google associated it with Fed-Ex tracking service. Puzzled, I called it back, only to get a recorded message saying it was a research agency. More investigation revealed others had been bothered by it and that whoever these people are were claiming to be Carphone Warehouse. I doubt it. Keeps calling so i finally answered it, there was a recording saying more nbn is getting disconnected in 24 hours and i have to talk to a technician, so I waited to be connected to see what happened, and they hung up. Be careful.

This was a genuine call and text (very badly written, and call included a poorly recorded computerised message, so I am not surprised people are suspicious!) I double checked it was genuine by calling through HSBC Premier to be transferred. The fraud detection system had flagged a transaction I had tried to make online as suspicious. It was in fact genuine and they have reset the card accordingly. Glad they are on the ball, but the messages could be much better written/recorded.

Received a call saying I was owed £3850 from a previous PPI claim (which had already been settled). Indian gentleman said he was Alex Carter from the County Court of London, 227 The Strand. I had a subsequent call from Francis Anderson, same voice, same tone, probably the same person. I was told to hand over iTunes vouchers for £150 when the cheque would be hand delivered to me. They are from a pensions company. They asked if I had a pension and whether I paid into one and I said "no." She then said thank you and hung up. Just say that you don t have and have never paid into a pension and it seems they hang up quite quickly!
