I can only presume it was a prank call as that's twice I've had a call from this number and they've hung up as soon as I've answered on both occasions
It was an automated call from HMRC saying that I have done some activity against the tax and HMRC is going to process case against me. Press one to stop processing the case.

The second one today from the same stable - only the 2 digits at the end are different. Both calls from Manchester. There have been a few today - getting fed up with these scammers ringing constantly. They must be getting very strapped for cash to keep trying to defraud 'unsuspecting' people!! Well, we are on to them and so are the Police! We must get them stopped and prosecuted. REPORT, REPORT, REPORT!

been called at least twice a day from this number! I've just blocked it, starting to drive me mad!
I recieved a text message from this number, claiming to be from the post office about a parcel that had to be redelivered. Everything looks real except for the part that is asking me £2.10 for redelivery. The postoffice never ask money to redeliver a package. They say because of covid19 they wont leave a note anymore when they are at your door. That's a lie. Be careful!

The call was made by a Far Eastern sounding Male. The line was very bad with lots of interference - I could not make out what he was saying apart from the fact that there was something to do with BT - I hung up because the reception was just too bad and my service provider is not BT

GDPR has no relevance to these calls which use spoofed numbers, originate outside the UK and are untraceable. NEVER TRY TO RETURN A CALL to an unknown number and NEVER PRESS ...
The caller had old personal details for me (more than a year old), and was trying to find out if I d been missold insurance with a loan or credit card in the past. They have called several times.
