Called twice today. Answered 2nd call - "Mike (Punjabi) Smith", from 'BT'. Foreign person using my IP address for illegal purposes - would need to disconnect my internet for 5 days. Told me to hit CTRL+R and Windows key and enter something. I played along (doing NOTHING on my laptop, but then asked him, "You say this is coming from my IP address - then you can tell me what it is!?". He gave me a random number from hos head, I guess. Do not know who called but they rang more than once. Luckily, I am unable to reach phone before it rings off but tried to ring back after checking number via and advised non existent number. Checked with BT who advised it was a scam.
It only rang once then stopped. I called it back and it said congratulations I had been entered in to a competition to win.... but I hung up. It is a premium rate number.
