When calling back they admitted using the internet to gather info in an attempt to catfish me. Not sure this is legal nor in line with GDPR regulations. We'll see solicitor looking into this.

I did not reach the phone before my machine kicked in but as soon as my message started the phone call was ended. I do not know anyone in this area but I do know that the scammers are now able to link on to UK landlines to fool you into thinking it is from a UK number. Yesterday I had a similar call from a number about 15 miles from home but when I picked it up there was the usual call centre pause. When I tried ringing back there was no reply.
