I am actually having some fun coming up new put down lines before they hang up -"No I am not Mr X I am Father Christmas -have you been a good boy ?" or better still " yes I would like to answer your questions but first can you tell me what you are wearing ? I received a txt asking if I made a transaction to DHL for £1,400 didn't say from which bank/building Society so don't know if its genuine or not. Txt Y back if you made the transaction but if not call 08432896064 which I have done 4 times. They don't answer with a name of the company and keep you on the phone in a queue system I gave up at 20 minutes. I still do not know if it is a scam or genuine which is a pain. Going to ring BT to see what they say.

The operator (in a very noisy call centre) said it wasn't a marketing call and then asked me if I had a frozen pension? I said I wouldn't answer that question, but please continue. They wanted to give me "a free pension review" she said. I innocently said that was very kind, but why do you want to do that? How do you make a profit from that? A brief silence then she hung up. Clearly a scam to get your pension details or offer dubious 'services'.

I just had fun with 2 of these calls. Call 1: I pretended to be deaf and to mishear everything the caller said... who eventually disconnected! Call 2: when asked "and how are you today?" I responded by giving them a detailed litany of all my ailments, in my case all invented! I would not let the caller get a word in and I terminated the call by thanking them for calling about my health but I have to go now to have my piles looked at by the nurse and I did not want to miss my appointment. Try it...it is real
