When you press 2 to speak to them, you get another recorded message saying this is not a valid extension What do they gain from these hideous automated calls?

Hal s reply is spot on. If someone sends a text message to your landline and you don t pick up the phone it gets stored for you to retrieve later. This 0795 number is where you collect the message, plus the number of the mobile phone that sent the text. It s not dangerous. All depends on what the text message says, of course - that could be anything. In my case it was someone texting to say Sorry I Missed Your Call. See? Not dangerous.

Have had three of these calls within last 48 hours. The last call was from a female (Far east accent) who asked for a name that was similar to mine but incorrect, I told them I wasn t interested and she shouted down the phone wor before hanging up!!!

Scam - Robotic voice recording claiming to be from British Telecom advising my telephone line about to be disconnected, that I should return the call right away. I did not return the call.

I was conned out of ?180 under the pretence of a date paying ?400! This was cancelled and I m now being fobbed off!!! How do I get a refund??!!

Claimed I had an accident in the last 2.5 years and was entitled to compensation. Yeah right! I hadn t of course. I just found out today that you can report these muppets to www.ico.org.uk. If enough people report they can take action. Go for it people!
