The 01330 563426 number allowed me to answer, and an automated message said it was the HMRC and that I would be fined. You could press 1 to talk to an agent. I hung up. You cannot ring back. Caller said name was PERRY HUTHES asked numerous personal questions managed to get my mum and dad's ages and details about house security before my mum managed to get the phone off Dad. suggested working with Warwickshire police - vague enough to not be an outright lie wanted to get someone into the house for a sales visit. hard sell rather than scammer I think, but still very annoying and careful probing for personal details set the alarm bells ringing.

SCAM A recorded message saying that money had been withdrawn from my account to an unexpected payee and I should press 1 (to ignore I think that was) or press 2 for help. Instead of dialling either choice I checked my online banking record. As expected, there was no trace of any unauthorised withdrawals so I blocked the number.
