SCAM / SPAM Received a text from this number, +44 7377 428622, saying that I was due a refund from HMRC and providing a link to click on to start the claim process. Fairly clearly a malicious link so I deleted the text - suggest any other recipients do likewise.
Claimed to be Amazon, saying I’d bought a gift card for £49.99 and they wanted to check this was correct, and if it wasn’t did I want to cancel the order. I said it wasn’t me and I’d like to cancel (but was already suspicious - who buys a gift card for £49.99, rather than £50?!), then they started asking about which device I’d like the refund processed via. When I asked more questions about my concerns that this was a scam call they hung up.

I ve received a call on my mobile phone today from 0161 939 0236 telling me that I ve had a loan and I m entitled to a refund plus interest because I was mis sold the loan. In the first place neither my husband or myself have had a loan from our bank or on any credit card. The caller went on to name all the credit cards that I could own and from any bank (naming banks) that I may have had a card or loan from. Pointed out to them that by storing my information without my consent and cold calling me is illegal and advised they should remove all traces of me from their database and I will be reporting this company.
