I have been telephoned this afternoon – apparently by EE – to tell me that I was getting a 45% discount on my bill for the next year? I was then passed on to a supervisor to confirm my email address – which I did. They then said that they would email me and I would need to change the password to EEdefault19: at this point I told the caller I would hang-up.

How did they get my details when this is not my phone it's paid for by somebody else 250 miles away. The mind boggles at how much scammery people think they can get away with. Scam call saying my visa card (I don't have one!) had been used and they are the Security anti fraud department. This type of scam asks you to press a button and then they will go on to ask you to prove you have the card by giving them info from it.

It says this is Clearanswer, a marketing company and one of BTs partners.....comments from the general public seem to suggest otherwise. A very foreign voice suggested my BT contract was coming to an end. I don’t discuss new contracts with a cold caller. When I said it wasn’t due to be renegotiated she hung up...not the sort of thing a genuine person would do.
