Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 1792917xxx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with PPI claims (also reclaim money from holidays) / insurance marketing / energy schemes. Indian sounding guy, Sam , told me he was from BT and that my internet was downloading viruses, I played along with him for a bit, he asked me how many lights were flashing on my router, I said 57... he asked me what colour they were, I said purple, but I might be wrong as I m colourblind! I could tell he was getting narked by this (as he thought he was on to a good one initially), I then told him he should be ashamed of himself, and that he was a class A, 5 star C*NT!

called and said router was having problems and would offer £200 as compensation. then when did the bank transfer they made a 'mistake' and transferred £2,000. as a gesture of goodwill they would only ask for £700 back. this was transferred by Moneygram (I know - caught my partner when unwell and not thinking straight). also took over my laptop and remotely accessed who knows what. SCAM. Talktalk will never call you. don't tell the scammers anything. Police and Talktalk aware.
Said it was talktalk wanting to check re my internet problems and could I log on to laptop. I said I hadn't reported a problem, woman hung up.

Getting calls from this number and another from Sheffield 01143493955. Blocked them but still call about six seven times a day. Call when I m in work so just answer and put phone in my pocket as work in noisy warehouse. Usually hang up quite quickly.

This number called in the evening. A woman spoke, she got my name right then asked if I lived at, and gave a very odd address . I said no I didn t so she said could I tell her correct address to put their record straight. I said don t bother, and hung up. I should have asked what record and why? Do they come up with a ficticious address hoping you will tell them the correct address?

Line for shared costs, there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. This seems to be some good working money trap, similar numbers are reported as robocalls, fake wins, scam offers (in most cases some financial offers). For sure some general call centre. I recommend to block the whole 8438707xxx range... People did someone answer this number?

This is the number for Mettler Toledo currently, they are a manufacturer of scientific equipment. They were calling to see if they had any solutions that would be right for my workplace but I am not in the procurement department so they have the wrong number. I think they have sold their contact list to a sales centre.
I misses this call as my phone was off but a quick Internet search told me this was an Indian scam call centre pretending to be in London, with an outside London area code. This number can be purchased for roughly ?3. Do not answer it is a scam.
