I asked where he was calling from but couldn’t understand what he said, put him on loudspeaker and asked again and no one in my office could understand what he said? I asked what it was regarding and he said the rent on my address and knew my address?? I said I don’t rent my house and he put the phone down on me??? Caller claimed to be from BT Openreach calling about poor internet speed - sounded like an Indian call centre. I was wary but we have been having poor speed so I carried on. They asked me to do a speed test on out internet using a site I have used before. They said the speed figures were very low. They wanted me to download software so they could connect to my PC which I didn't do. When I started to challenge them to prove who they were they hung up. I suspect this is a scam call.

This is a scam number. pretending to be from the HMRC stating that fraud has been committed under your name and that if you don't press 1 a warrant will be issued to arrest you. This is a scam do not press 1 or engage with them and absolutley do not share any of your bank details or make any payments. Prerecorded message alleging to be from a bank - 2 transactions were highlighted as 1. a payment of £300 to Amazon and 2. a payment exceeding £1000 to an overseas destination. Options were offered which were ignored and the call was terminated by the recipient. An effort was made to call the number from both landline and mobile where an answer was given “it has not been possible to connect your call” and “the number you have dialled is incorrect”, respectively. These people should be sent to Siberia.
Scam/Fraud Recorded message stating that I had an arrest warrant against me for tax fraud - it then gives you an option to press '1' for something (by which time I'd hung up)... Obvious scam by whatever criminals are operating here.
