Sent a text message first, saying they were from BT and would give me a call. The caller had a strong indian accent, and informed that my internet had been compromised, possibly by overseas third parties. asked me to go through various tests ie logging onto my tesco account, and checking my bank statements. When i refused to do so, the caller got a little shirty, asking what was the basis for this? have just received a call from this number to our landline. Today, the american accented voice was identified as 'Shirley' professing to be from our internet provider and saying that our computer had been 'compromised' from various countries and they needed to access our router to 'sort the problem'. At that point I ended the call and added the number to our list of blocked callers.
They said they got my details from “Road Traffic Claims Company” and when I said I hadn’t had an accident in 3 years he then asked if I’d had a work related accident or any injury. He hung up when I told him to remove my details.
