Had a call from this number telling me they were from Microsoft and there was a problem with our computer. Could we log on etc. Told them to phone back later - They haven t. No idea if it is genuine!

It rings once and stops. Its designed for the user to call back and its a premium rate number. I think its ee. I get called every day by this. I m out of contract and o2 is starting to look better every day. Like a previous comment states DO NOT CALL BACK.

There is no simple way of verifying mobile numbers, many of them are unregistered on pay as you go tariffs. You will have to contact your customer and ask him to confirm his name.

British Gas. calling me for months. First from Manchester. Got apology. then it starts again. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BRITISH GAS. Very suspicious callers. Claiming to be a Pensions firm asking for personal details including even your Nat Ins number which I did not divulge to them. Their response was to say "we cannot proceed any further without this". They do have English accents. My suspicions are confirmed when I try to call back on this number - phone just goes dead. If these people are not scammers - they do a very good impression of scammers.

Called several times. Call cuts out when my answerphone cuts in, a common occurrence with telesales agencies. It seems they wait to get a human voice and until you speak all you hear is a silence... say hello and the noise of a call centre cuts in.
