They then run something that shows banking details and they direct you to go to your online banking so they can assist in fixing your security with your banking. (I am in IT and an elderly customer got tricked by this).

It was a female caller with (what sounded like) a Chinese accent. She said she was calling on behalf of Telephone Preference Service.
