As I couldn't make him out properly I asked if I could phone him back. He kept insisting he'd tell me all about his proposition, so I put the phone down. I tried to redial his number, but number inaccessible.

My husband had this message last night and thought I hadn't been paying the mortgage so a fraught 10 minutes which nearly ended in a row!!! I called the number from a landline and got no response so googled the problem on line and came up with these responses. So very worrying as I knew nothing was amiss. Please stop saying this is a scam, it is NOT A SCAM. This is Nationwide's genuine calling number. They call early in the morning and late at night in order to catch people outside of work hours. If you actually think it's a scam, you ask them for their employee ID and their name, then you call your bank on their normal customer service number and you confirm the person's details PLUS the phone number they called from. It's a call centre number, so that's probably why it won't go through to anyone when you c
