Automated message saying something about some suspicious activity in my name and wanted me to press 1 to connect to the officer concerned. It said I wouldn’t be able to use my national insurance number if I didn’t press 1 and talk to the officer. Didn’t mention my name if any details, and hung up after 30 seconds. Seems like a phishing scam.

I too was offered "work from home" employment by ING FUNDING (via e-mail). An application form and a contract of employment was attached to the e-mail which I am to fax to 02076811627, but there was no mention of bank details. Is this safe? I will cantact ING directly to find out if anyone can verify this e-mail I was sent. I ll post my findings as soon as I know whats going on.

A number used by capita investment, they also call from a witheld number. The company seems to be based in 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10022 and there calls are about a documented takeover scam where they say a 3rd party wants to buy your worthless penny shares and need a bond. This is where they ask for money.

Scam. I use to work for vodafone, and the first thing i asked after he started talking was " who is your line manager?" "And what system am i on". He freaked out and try come back but not a chance. As for the question providing you managers name should be a problem, unless you are a scammer and it takes you 5-6 seconds to invent a name, secondly vodafone has 2 systems that are being used in the company and it s a very simple to answer this question for a vodafone person. This is an HMRC Fraud scam. A recorded voice telle you that there is a fraud case against you and a warrent for your arrest will be issued if you fain to 'press one'. DANGEROUS Hang up and block the number immediately.
I don t know why they give out 0843 numbers because they all seem to be used for these types of premium rate scams. If you register for the non-existant prize draw you are charged huge sums for every message you get from them until all of your phone credit is gone.

I can only assume from other comments that these annoying calls are from Ideal World as I am awaiting an order from them. Ironically while on this website I am getting popups from them regarding the same product I ordered! Yet another number to block.

Alleged call from HMRC with automated male voice telling me to press 1 to avoid being arrested for fraud. Absolutely sure it is some new scam attempt to get money from scared people - it sounded quite threatening!
