This person claimed to be an officer calling from 'the HMRC' claiming that I had paid insufficient tax- revealed apparently after a 5 year audit (I owed £3999.99 allegedly). This wasn't true of course. DO NOT EVEN SPEAK TO THESE PEOPLE. Do not transfer ANY money. They will try and prove themselves by calling you back on a number that IS the HMRC number but this of course has been manufactured!

The text message related to card transactions that were made including a cash point withdrawl from within the branch on the day before. On the basis that I have no on-line or telephone banking, the knowledge of the transactions made , could only have come from within the Bank it's self via a genuine source or if RBS had a systems security breach(unlikely). I answered an E-mail about a holiday discount. I then had to reply by inserting a Pin number on my mobile. They have a lot of cheek cos they do not tell you upfront about the charges. I phone my Mobile account holder O2 and they were great. They stopped any future charges, however I will telephone the 08000 number demanding a refund.

The caller could not confirm their registered address and said they do not have a website. She also asked for my full name. I stopped her there and asked her to validate her company. She said she does not have that information and would need to call head office then call me back. Erm!
