Tone was polite then turned quite aggressive when I said I don’t even have sky (I do just testing them!) said they must help me with my technical issues. My wife answered the phone, and an apparently recorded message said that there was a suspicious transaction involving a £300 bill from Amazon which had not been paid. Then she was asked to press some number at which point she ended the call. I found the callers number by using 1471. The call appears to be a scam.

I received a call from this number from an automated system telling me that my debit card had been used for unrecognised transactions and to press 1 to authorise or 2 to speak to my bank. My suggestion is that you do as I did and ignore it.

Number 01322 936144 is a Telemarketing Scam! If ever you don't recognise the number, DON'T SPEAK and JUST LISTEN! If you don't hear anyone, and after a short pause the line goes dead, then congratulations you've just successfully escaped being scammed! This is because it was a computer calling trying to establish if your number was a voiceline. If you'd spoken your number would be logged as a voiceline and some clever con artist would be phoning you later, so now you know. If ever in doubt always hang up!

Told him I wasn't interested and hung up. Like many other reports I am TPS registered, so if a genuine company they are breaking the law. If a scam, as I suspect it is, of course also illegal. I have BT guardian which asks callers to announce who they are before I answer. Most sales calls hang up at that point, this one didn't. Lovely lady explained that I could have a half hour appointment to check energy efficiency of my home and advise of any improvements. I made the appointment. Very polite young man called Adam arrived, checked the loft and roof, looked around, discussed my energy payment per month. The information given was useful, nothing to sign, no sales pitch. I would have no worries.
