01794399253 called my landline on Thursday 13 July and a recorded message advised me that money had been transferred from my account and to key 1 to sort it. 01794 is a Romsey UK number as is my number so I assumed it was local. I did not continue with the call. It was the same as other messages that I have received recently mentioned Amazon. How do scammers phone from local numbers?

I'm pretty sure that this is a scam number. It's number called me and told me that there had been a fraudulent charge on my visa number and asked me to dial 1. The number did not ask for my name. The number did not give me any digits from my account numbers. I don't hold a visa card. I did not press one. I hung up immediately. Obvious scam beware!

Some outfit calling itself 'HR Advisor'. Pretending to be some kind of authority on HR law, which they clearly aren't - it's just the usual data harvesting.
Called about 20 times from 8am on a Sunday morning to around 9am on the Monday morning. BT Call Guardian took care of it as the spammers/scammers will never bother to 'announce' themselves... they can't when they're using autodiallers to try and connect to as many number as possible. I have had a call from this number as I do not know it I let the answering machine get it, as soon as the announcement started the caller hung up. When I dialled the number back using 141 to block my own number the call was not picked up. I suspect a call centre of some form possibly phishing. Also had a missed call from 02089022724 which I assume is the same outfit. If genuine reason for call, why not leave a message?

This is a fake number used by scammers to try to get personal information about you. They sound very official and scary, suggesting legal action against you. I inadvertently provided them with my name, National Insurance number and name of bank before I realised that it was a phishing attempt. The caller spoke with a slightly American accent.
