A very well spoken man said he was calling from some company (I didn't catch the name) to do with my Scottish Widows life insurance. 01794399253 called my landline on Thursday 13 July and a recorded message advised me that money had been transferred from my account and to key 1 to sort it. 01794 is a Romsey UK number as is my number so I assumed it was local. I did not continue with the call. It was the same as other messages that I have received recently mentioned Amazon. How do scammers phone from local numbers?

This number (07587031637) texted me this message. "SANTANDER: Your one time passcode is 00684. If you did not request a code, please call us on 03300435407" 1. I did not request a one time pin 2 I don't have Santander 3. The number I was asked to ring is not a Santander num. Infact, it is for a business called...CMA Somerset in Yeovil. The business may be a front for this fraud scheme. Be vigilant. Very odd.

Safe number I missed the call but I believe it was the NHS. After looking at the stats on this and other sites, I decided to ring the number back. The automatic answer mentioned the NHS website and the initials of a local healthboard. For me it was a callback from 111.

This is a scam. They claim to be calling from DHL about an unpaid import duty charge but they haven’t even got the right amount! I’d already had an email from DHL a few days earlier. Didn’t ask for payment over the phone but sent an email. What bothers me is that they had my home phone number, my email address (the payment link was in a very poorly constructed fake email from ‘George Spofforth’) & the DHL waybill number. Serious data breach going on here.
