Claimed to be a “Michael Fernandez” from Windows Technical Department.He told me that there has been a corruption with my computer and that he has to resolve it for me and started to give me directions on where to navigate on my pc. I stopped him and asked what exactly the problem was and he said it was something to do with the RAM and hardware and that if he doesn’t help me it will cause me major problems. I asked him for his number (0161 818 2022) - no answer naturally.

I have had three calls last one from a 02031295034 number, thank goodness for this site. I am a widow but very IT literate so knew it was a scam HMRC would write to you not leave a message by somebody with a foreign accent
Mine said, with strong Indian accent, he's from Vodafone and calling with "offer". Scam as hell.

Automated caller: Said there had been illegal activity on my internet and it will be disconnected shortly, unless I contacted my provider. I was then asked to press the number of the person who would deal with the situation. Of which I hung up as was unsure if this was legit or not? but to my knowledge nothing illegal has been happening on my internet, this is very concerning if it is a scam, as this could make some one ill with worry as to what may be happening on the computer with them being unaware!!!!

We have been receiving a large number of calls since last Wednesday from various scared and vulnerable people thinking this is true. We have now had to change our phone number to stop the calls. Fraud, claiming my national insurance number has been compromised or something along the lines. It's a robotic female voice, not an actual caller. Don't trust them, if something like that happens, HMRC would send you a letter, maybe an ufficial email, not call you from a private phone number!
