I was caught out by this today. They claimed to be calling from O2. Luckily, I realised after the call ended and was able to change my account details before any damage was done. The scammers knew all of my details - full name, address, email address, how much I'm billed each month - even my security question. They were very convincing. Just had a call from 01952 241140 - when I answered they took a few seconds to respond, suggesting a call centre. Claimed to be from Microsoft and wanted me to confirm I was the owner of this computer (I was on the phone not the computer but hey...) I confirmed it and then he asked the same question again but used my name. I confirmed it again and he hung up! Not sure what it was about but very wary.

Spoke to "Dave" and to "John" who had so strong Indian accents, I think, and the background chatter in what was obviously a call centre that it was very hard to understand them. Both assured me that they were not selling anything but asked lots of personal questions. Couldn t answer any of my questions other than they got my name and address from UK publically available database.

Do not understand this in the least and should be avoided by all costs - If you have an Android, get Truecaller - You can see the company name and have the option to block individual callers and register them as spam
