SCAM This is a call centre saying it is a courtesy call due to an appliances warrantee expiring, on this instance it was a washing machine, so quite believable. They wanted £65 per year for another 3 years full cover. It sounded very genuine until she said that she wanted me to tell her the name and make of my appliance and i said that i was ok and didn't want to renew the warrantee as i'd had it for over 5 years, then they just hung up and the line went dead. SPAM scam An Indian woman called in the morning,dad answered they said his surname and that they were from virgin,calling about his internet is fluctuating and that they will do a test to see what the problem is,dad gave me the phone to deal with her so I said to her to call back later.She called me late afternoon when I asked her where she was calling from she said talk talk and I said we weren’t with them when I said how would she know if something was wrong with my internet she hung up.

Recorded message purportedly from HMRC. Apparently I owe them money ( I don’t by the way). I recently had a similar call from a different number to my landline, also supposedly from HMRC but that one was telling me there was a warrant out for my arrest for non payment of tax! Too ridiculous for words but anyone who is vulnerable could easily be frightened by calls like this.
