Phoned the number back and it is lady who apologies saying that she has been trying to tell EE this is happening but they do not believe her.

These clowns call from India and are very abusive. Ask them to hold on a sec and just put phone on the side and go back to what you were doing. No point arguing or being abusive as they likely have your email address and obviously have your telephone number.
