Asian Guy (David) calling from Windows Technical about my computer. Apparently something wrong with my computer so need to turn it on so they could sort it out. I asked them to tell me what my computer IP address is - which obviously they can t tell me because they don t know who they are speaking to. IT IS A SCAM - THEY WANT A ONE OFF, LIFETIME PAYMENT. My mother-in-law has just found a charge for ?99.99 on her Barclays statement. I ve just spoken to the bank and they have been 100% helpful and have agreed to refund her ASAP. When mum-in-law initialy went into the bank to query the transaction they told her that it was a holiday company and assisted her to call them. The company told her that they take the view that unless you specifically say otherwise they assume that you want thier services, even though the in-laws had no knowledge of the company. T

Another call about PPI mis-selling. I hung up.

This number called with message about "every house needs to be done by 2016" plus "we are in your area" last week - some solar panel scam. Didn t answer - the message is recorded on my answerphone. Same message from 01316483485 yesterday - same result. This lot have probably rented fake numbers from a major phone company which offers them on its web site. Some firms offer call centres numbers which give the person called the idea that it is a local call.
