Hal s reply is spot on. If someone sends a text message to your landline and you don t pick up the phone it gets stored for you to retrieve later. This 0795 number is where you collect the message, plus the number of the mobile phone that sent the text. It s not dangerous. All depends on what the text message says, of course - that could be anything. In my case it was someone texting to say Sorry I Missed Your Call. See? Not dangerous.

Often recieve calls claiming to be from Royal Sun Alliance. LAdy pretending to be from telephone preference service, gives you your name, address and postcode. Then says preference service rewuires you to renew your membership giving the existing Debit card details. Then asks for the details - I refused. At this point line went dead.

Forever calling my 11yo sons mobile, this being a new mobile contract. Clearly cold calling and continue to harrass us, idiots! From now on I answer, appearing to be my local Police Authority. I ve done this with others and they promptly hangup and I never receive a call from them again. As for the TPS, complete waste of time. I and many others had an increase of calls once added, even on a completely new line where nobody had the number as it was used as a broadband only line by us.
