It is one of those days.....I have had three of these calls in one morning when exceptionally busy. Criminals make up these numbers - all fake and nearly always different - to call me to try to persuade me to fall for their story that there is something wrong with my computer or internet connection. Their aim is to persuade me to believe their lies and allow them to infect it with something that would be very serious if I fell for their story that they represent Talk Talk or B.T. It varies. Called yesterday 19Aug by a women with a very strong Asian accent. She wanted me to turn on my computer as BT had requested her to help me with my router, that was showing a fault, and she could talk me through the repair. I asked her to call back in half an hour as I was busy. I then checked the number that she had called on and it was not recognised. Contacted BT and they confirmed that this was a scam.that

They called to say I had a minor accident in the last 2.5 years. When I asked what vehicle it was, they said they couldn t tell me because of data protection. I enjoy keeping them on the line while they waste their own time. Sometimes I tell them I m just getting the details and leave them hanging on. It stops them calling anyone else for a while until they get fed up.

Fraud - claimed to be NHS track & trace. I asked the lady where she was calling from. She said Edinburgh. So I asked her to name the 3 bridges crossing the Firth of Forth. She said "North bridge, South bridge and I don't know". Really, that was her answer! Ha ha ha.

Fraud SCAM Called me pretending to be from Amazon saying that someone had ordered an iPhone on my account. They then managed to trigger the Amazon reset password text message and pressured me to give me that code to them, presumably so that they could take control of my Amazon account. Got quite upset when I refused to give them the code

On subsequent calls, I kep asking them to stop as I am not mr John. They just hang up. I m on TPS and ex-directory.

Very bubbly sounding lady called Leslie, on a terrible line, called from this number. Claimed to be from some kind of insurance company, said the information had come from the "Road Traffic Accident Commission" or similar. Apparently I was in an accident that wasn t my fault. After asking her to repeat her company name, and pointing out that I hadn t had an accident, she hung up on me.
