I never answer the landline (to avoid giving scammers/spammers the knowledge that my landline is a valid number). I researched the number but could not find a legitimate index entry, so I conclude it is a scam and not to be trusted at all. Potentially dangerous. Said they were from EE, asked me to confirm I had a 2 year contract based on the last 4 digits of my phone number (I don't but said yes to spur him to his next talking point) then said I'd won 40% discount. Then tried to confirm my account details which is when I told him to die in a ditch and hung up

Phoned this afternoon. An automated voice declared that it was a call from "security at your bank", so at least the scammer doesn't even know which bank he is supposed to pretend to be. Allegedly, two probably fraudulent card transactions had been detected, one for £300 to Amazon and one of a transfer abroad of £1,100. A menu of options was read out, at which point I hung up.
