rang me on my mobile told me my name, stated he was from an unaudiable ins company. Told me my address AND car registration No. Said I ahd been in an accident and was earmarked £1000. I told him I had not been in accident, asked who he was and his company, he hung up.

Car accident insurance scam. Very persistent. Told to get lost and not call again. Took exception to this and Kept ringing back until I disconnected the phone.

I received a call from this number just now. He said he was from a company called Technical Help Service and told me my computer had a virus. He tried to convince me using various methods including running the eventvwr (the errors listed there are not related to viruses!) This is identical to the well known Windows Technical Helpdesk scam. They are an OK company, bought stuff from them, but they call every other week with offers. Put their number in your phone contacts list so you know to reject the call. Their printer deals are excellent.

Found out it s a timeshare cold call based in Tenerife. What they actually do is speak as if they are talking to someone else saying I can t hear anyone on the other end of the line, eventually put the phone down and wait for the person to call them back, obviously at their own cost.
