somebody who works for the phone company told me they purposely have setup computers to automatically call peoples houses and then hang up. they said it makes the phone company profit by people simply answering and hanging up due to the lines being used. its a timewasting tactic. simply ignore it

If you Google the number, it comes back to Brother. 0333 numbers are used in the UK and known as non-geographic but are (supposedly) cheaper than 08 and 09 numbers.

They called to say I had a minor accident in the last 2.5 years. When I asked what vehicle it was, they said they couldn t tell me because of data protection. I enjoy keeping them on the line while they waste their own time. Sometimes I tell them I m just getting the details and leave them hanging on. It stops them calling anyone else for a while until they get fed up.

I keep getting calls off these scumbags not answered so haven t a clue who they are. I have an ex directory number that only family members have so am pretty sure where these scum got my number from as I rang an indian take-away the night before the 1st call started so looks to me the number has been sold on to them, now also getting calls from Sydney. Sent me a text message a few days ago asking Miss XYZ to forward her documentation! I texted back to say they d got a wrong number but apparently their number doesn t recieve text messages, although it does seem to be able to send them!
