Just been called by this number. I am a receptionist for an Opticians, and they said they were from HMRC, and wanted to speak to the owner of the company regarding research. Said they wished to speak to the person who does the Income Tax for the company. I said my boss was unavailable, and could I give her a message and a number to contact them on. A woman claiming to be calling about energy research and deals available to us. We've been called many times by such companies who usually want to send round 'an energy assessor' for cavity and loft insulation. When I asked if it was a cold call and that we were registered with TPS, she said not at all so that wouldn't apply to her call (blatantly untrue). She feigned innocence very well and hung up - no doubt we will be called by them again, that's this kind of company's MO.
