I just spoke to BT - evidently this is an international company beyond the reach of TPS, using the 01603 290004 number as a dummy call ID to mask the fact it is an international call so that it doesn t appear as International on lines with Caller ID. Is generally believed to be a scam aiming to get access to bank account details for the purposes of defrauding. Nothing BT or TPS can do - Government are the only ones with the power to stop these types of calls.

This number rang my mobile at 15:54hrs today. I ve read other s comments about this number, on other lookup sites, someone reported multiple (nuisance) calls, am unsure what to make of it, seems to be perhaps a cold-calling centre to change utility services, someone else said when they rang them, the caller was saying they were from British Gas, proceeded to ask questions like their postcode, the person who was called got suspicious, asked them why are you asking things you should know already, upon which t

SCAM Automated call from "Amazon", confirming renewal of Amazon Prime for one year for £71 plus. Given options of "Press 1 for this, 2 for that." Of course I have not renewed an Amazon Prime membership - didn't have one to renew. I said nothing, pressed no buttons, and after about 30 seconds of silence the line dropped. It's likely they would have asked for my cc details so the could confirm/reverse the charge; I'll never know :-)
