I had an absolutely identical phone call as Joanne. Number is from Credit Research and now blocked.

No idea who it was, called the number back and the number appears to be a defunct. as a precaution block the number and avoid as likely to be a spam.

Telling me I'm due PPI compensation when I'm not. Phishing.

Yep, hangs up when I answer and then I call back to find its some accident claim company. Rang back quite a few times and the hung up myself, heard this fella with the scouse accent answer more than once! Play them at heir own game ay!

Just had a call from this number, an asian lady called Kate Brown(???) who said that my IP address was being used by others around the world so they will be cancelling user licence on my IP address. The second option was they will talk me through how to block so I wont be compromised. Told her that I was computer illiterate and could she ring back later and speak to my hubby. I have been inundated with calls from 01642878714 a couple of times i have answered the phone there was just silence,again today they are at it again ,i no longer answer the phone to this number or to any number that i do not recognize just sick of it altogether these callers need banning

Yes, they are still operating and looks like they are having a New Year hunt for more people to con, as several friends have had calls from them over the past few days. I take great delight in stringing them along for as long as possible, listening to them get more and more frustrated as I keep asking questions about their blocking box . These people whoever they are annoy me no end. You answer the call ... They hang up! I block the caller but they still come back using a different, although a similar number!
