Argos £500 gift phone text scam (11 Dec 19)
They have called us 6 x in 3 days. Saying they are BT and have received warning signals from our router. When my Husband told them he worked for BT they hung up.
SCAM, call from stating it was from HMRC stating I was being investigated for Tax Fraud, it was an automated message and then stated to push 1 for further details. I hung up.

SCAM Caller said he was from Amazon ringing to advise that my Amazon Prime account was due to expire and asking me if I wanted to renew. I don't have Amazon Prime so realised that this was a scam so played along. I said yes I wanted to renew and he then asked me for my bank card details so I hung up. He never asked for my name.
A woman with a West African accent phoned me at 4.30 pm on 12th July 2012. She asked me how my "claim" was progressing and whether she could help. Obviously a telemarketing call because there was the usual buzz of conversation in the background. The annoying thing is that I m on the Telephone Preference List of people who should *NOT* be contacted by telemarketers. Unfortunately, it doesn t seem to have worked in this case. Very crackly line with an automated voice - the only bits I could make out was that they had some information about me and if I didn't press 1, I would be arrested. Possibly a scam for personal details.
