They just phoned my elderly father-in-law on his land line and luckily my husband had just arrived at the house when they phoned. They told him that they were the National Crime Agency and that there had been fraud on his bank account. This is CIGNA s phone line. They are a medical insurance company. They were returning my call when they rang me.

They wanted me to sign up to a scheme to prevent unsolicited sales calls. The irony that they had just made an unsolicited sales call seemed lost on them...

Didn t leave explanation as to why but told to ring the number and press opt one. Could still have been spam but it was the North Wales Hospital Board General Appointments Centre trying to contact me to book a test.

This is a scam. If your card is stolen and HSBC calls you, they wouldn t ask you to call back. I received a call from this number AFTER I cancelled my card. I terminated the call when I realised it was a scan. I didn t call back and didn t receive another call. A genuine fraud department would call again.
