I always receive most unknown telephone calls altogether over a 24 hour period and then get nothing for 1-2 weeks. I am moving from BT because of horrific service. I received a short automated message from BT - stating that they were taking over my line. I called to query this. The guy who answered verified my number, but it was not my number. I told him it was not mine and he abruptly hung up. I called back - the second call handler couldn’t understand the situation and became annoyed and hung up. My phone rung again and it was a scam call centre from abroad offering to cover my washing machine but I was to pay today.

They said their number was 02032867657. They tried to get me to run something on my computer but I declined. They asked me to run something else to confirm my customer number and I declined again. They said if I didn't comply there'd be a court action against me but I still declined. When they rang off I rang BT straightaway and they confirmed it was not them and they said they would never ask for such a thing.
