I got a phone call today (ending up on my voicemail). The message said: “This is officer Danis Grey from HM Revenu and Costume. The hotline to ??? revision is 02 03 314 77 91. I repeat, it is 02 03 314 77 91. Do not disregard this message and call us back. If you do not call us back, or we do not hear from your solicitor either. Then get ready to face the legal consequences. Good bye. And take care.” It is obviously a scary phishing phone call.
SCAM / SPAM Automated call, from my "internet provider" who would be disconnecting me within 24 hours due to "illegal activity" taking place over my connection - instructed to "press 1" to connect me to an executive. Connected to a woman speaking English with an Indian accent. Her script wasn't very good, tried to talk about online banking/shopping. I was busy so didn't string her out any longer. It s the collections dept from Lloyds. They trade under a variety of "banking names" including Cheltenham and Gloucester, Midland & West, Sainsburys Bank, etc. Although you may not have a bank account with them you may have a store card or credit card, loan, etc which is funded by them. However, if you are unsure about this caller then do not give them any information as they will eventually write to you. Phone calls are cheaper than postage, hence the use of that contact method initially.
