Caller hangs up when phone is answered

It was an openreach engineer, called to confirm if I wanted 2 lines installed and then to call my ISP to cancel one of them.

Called and hung up when answered. Phone showed number as "potential fraud".

Rang today, didn't answer

Don't know who this is but you can't ring them back

The point of the scam is to find gullible people who will believe what they say. They are crooks who once they find a victim will ask them for personal details and /or credit card/bank details "So we can proceed with our refund to you" They then commit identity fraud or empty your bank account. I ve received 17 calls in 48 hours, sometimes within minutes of each other! I ve threatened to use another provider which has triggered these calls, but even so, that s ridiculous and they never leave a message. I ve emailed them to tell them I will only converse with them via email as I m sick of being insulted by their foreign call centre workers!
