Some kind of telemarketing scam. Answered to silence, when they finally picked up it was clear form the background noise it was a call center of some kind... And they got my name wrong so its clear they d bought my details from somewhere else and copied them wrong. They claimed I d answered a survey recently, which I have not, and asked if I d do one again. Defiantely scammers of some kind.

I think this is a scam. It came via text message and it says I need to authorise a payee at some HSBC link. I don't know anyone who banks at HSBC or who I would pay monies to.

Line for shared costs, there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. This seems to be some good working money trap, similar numbers are reported with life insurance or financial offers - telemarketing in action. Did someone please answer this number?

Answered a call from this number - they asked for some name, no-one that lives here anyway. Said they must have the wrong number and they went on to ask if I was the homeowner of some address or other (again wrong) at which point I said they had the wrong information and hung up. What makes it suspicious is that I could hear in the background on their end other people using the 'Are you the homeowner' line. Wish I hadn't answered now in case they are checking for valid phone numbers or something.

I was cagey on the phone as I was not expecting the call and unfortunately am very aware of prank calls. Receive a call from 01684261747 on 01/11/2018 saying it was British Telecom and thay my phone line would be terminated in the next 24 hrs. I am not with BT. I hung up and added number to list of barred numbers.
