I don't answer calls that I'm not expecting if I don't know the caller. I work nights and keep my phone on silent during the day. Looked on here for a missed call, saw it was from Three and glad I missed it. Will be blocking them as they never have anything useful to say!

SCAM Automated call from "Amazon", confirming renewal of Amazon Prime for one year for £71 plus. Given options of "Press 1 for this, 2 for that." Of course I have not renewed an Amazon Prime membership - didn't have one to renew. I said nothing, pressed no buttons, and after about 30 seconds of silence the line dropped. It's likely they would have asked for my cc details so the could confirm/reverse the charge; I'll never know :-)

Very pushy but convincing girl at the end of the phone - said they were calling because I had entered a competition to win a trip to New York and so was eligible for ten free lines on Euro Millions. Sounded vaguely legitimate until she started asking me for personal details - date of birth, etc... "to confirm I was over 18". Fraud, claims to be calling from sky regarding my broadband, claims my router is sending them some sort of warning that there's a fault they need to fix. I'm not with sky, they didn't know who I was, it's a scam trying to get money out of you to fix your broadband. I have had numerous calls from these people and when I tried to question them and they realised I was suspicious they put the phone down. Do not engage with these con artists.

I know many people who will no longer answer their landline unless they recognise the callers number. It is businesses like IJT, boiler-room scams and PPI Claim companies who have changed the telephone from a useful tool and friend into a nuisance ridden pain in the arse. Well done everyone!

Caller had very poor English. Saying he was from Virgin Media. The caller delayed speaking, then in a very odd voice said he was calling from virgin media. Not trust worthy very unprofessional
Claimed to be from Amazon, saying that someone had placed a £~2K order on my account and I had to push 1 or 2 to resolve the issue. Checked my account, no such order. Phoned back, got some poor woman who was at a beauty appointment. Someone is managing to get around fraud prevention by spoofing the number sources.

8 AM this morning, automated call claiming to be "bank security" - went on to tell me my card had been used twice today - obvious scam as I use a building society wanted me to press a number to connect with their "helpline" - I hung up.
THIS IS SCAM! Automated message saying they are from the National Crime Agency and my National Insurance number has been compromised, it then asks you to press 1 to speak to someone. HANG UP!

Recorded message which claimed to be from a bank regarding fraudulent payments on a card but did not specify which bank they were from, which card or ask for our names, asked to press 1 to close payment or 2 for help - very dodgy so hung up
Fraud Stated they were from Virgin Media and they were cutting my internet off in 2 hours. The conversation got very sweary from my end, before hanging up. Be warned that this scam used to be robotic automated voice, but they are using a human now, albeit a subspecies who have not developed ethics quite yet.

SCAM. Call received at around 21:30 hours. Caller asked to speak with me by first name. I did not confirm whether I was the person required, but asked who was calling. She did not answer but repeated her question. When I asked again who was calling, the young sounding woman said 'I'm from Virgin.' I then asked what she wanted with the person for whom she had called and she hung up. A bit later I called the number back and the same woman answered with 'hello!' Definitely not from Virgin. Scammer.

Keep getting this type of number on my mobile, this one starts with +447521831470 and it has Ashley recommending a loan, one blocks the number, then later one gets a changed number asking you are qualifying for a loan always showing +44 followed by a new number. HOW ANNOYING IS THIS. getting on to my phone provider to sort this out. Beware.

Advising that I was about to be arrested shortly by the HMRC in connection with a tax scam
Initially called in December about my Google ads but told them to call me back in Jan after I could assess situation. Did call back, nice polite guy but told him I did not need their services, he was disappointed but still polite! Website says based in Brighton but actually based in Pakistan.
This number called me today and asked for me by name. Line was quiet for 3 seconds after I said hello and the person spoke sounded like a male with a funny voice so probably used some equipment to diguise their real voice to sound posh. After they said my name I replied "Cor you sound really posh how you doing?" Then they hung up. Would have kept call going longer but I had things to do so couldn t continue.
